My trip from point A to point B and making it to Z
Last night I had a pleasant discussion with my mom about what I've done to get where I am and how this business works. At times, yes..I feel doubtful and irritated at how everything works and sometimes I feel ecstatic and indestructible!
I recently came across a box filled with newspaper cut outs, trinkets from fashion shows and fashion related events, backstage passes, etc. I had found my "Fashion Box". This was a box I created when I was first able to step into the Fashion Industry and was so inspired and in awe of everything I was a part of I had to keep bits and pieces!
Two items in particular that I had found really hit me to my core. One was a checklist I created and periodically marked off from the first ever fashion show I produced. I can now say comfortably, it was a flop. Although nobody else thought it was, I remember crying in the back at the end to Nery Monzen (a show producer himself). I remember his words vividly; "This is your first show! Nobody expects you to be great, you take what you did and you run with it and work on it". I did exactly what he said and ran right out the door and never did a show again!!! Although I realized show production just wasn't for me.
The second item I found was a newspaper cut out of the Jacquline Conoir Fashion Show. I was a backstage dresser for BC Fashion Week and helped with a few front of house duties - it was one of the very first fashion shows I was a part of. Years later (February 2012) I was in Fashion Magazine with a photo from a JC show and (2 days ago) I proudly sat front row and watched what others had dressed.
This blurb is by no means a shameless self promotion but instead a read for some of you out there that are feeling like no matter how hard you work in the industry, no matter how many clothes you pack in the trunk, how many coffees you pick up, etc. you're just not where you want to be. You just have to wait because good things come those who do. I am also in no way at the top point of my career just yet, but at 24 I have a great handle on everything. Nothing in the this business comes for free and if it does then check the expiration date - no handouts, just helpful tips.
Cherish EVERY moment of what you do in this industry because it takes you places that you didn't even think of. Say hello and introduce yourself to EVERY person you meet at EVERY event because these are the people you will be spending your years with. Don't take any moment for granted because it makes you who you are.

Thunk - an inspiration!
It's Saturday at 11:53pm. I have just been inspired! That has not been happening a lot lately... I just finished watching Julie & Julia and what movie would have been more perfect for me to watch at this time of my life?
Reasons:
1. She is turning 30 and is unsatisfied with life. I am 24 and going through a quarter life crisis (yes I know that means I'm only living till 99 years of age)
2. Unlike her, who is miserable at her job. I was miserable and now have no job.
3. She is not the best cook but wants to learn how to be a great one - today I baked my first desert from scratch. And I loved it!
4. She starts a blog to feel as though she is doing something for herself and uses it as a way to express herself - no need to mention why I blog.
5. Her husband is Eric. My boyfriend is Eric.
If you haven't noticed I'm very much into "fate" and "meant to be" situations...
Did the movie inspire me to cook?? No, I don't think so...although I would love to make something tomorrow. It's inspired me to create something that is my own and express myself through my blog with what I truly enjoy. So, as I am saying this to you all you will take note that I will be adding a new section to my blog. I CAN'T SAY WHAT IT IS! BUT STAY TUNED!
The Devil Wears Prada just came on... gotta go!

Snipits of my life: Part 5 - My Library
My Reading| I have never been a big reader of very in dept novels but I have always been interested in books that allowed me to further indulge in what I love. I have what I think is a small collection of industry books although to my friends it definetly is not, but my hopes is to one day own wall to wall shelves completely filled with fashion and design books.
*Prized Posession: Limited Edition "Louis Vuitton Art, Fashion & Architecture" in plexi casing.

My Decor| Besides having my books in one place I like to keep them with great finds from vintage shops and little trinkiets that are just as captivating as the books themselves.

The woman, originally painted black was found at Value Village in Vancouver and to me resembles a Valentino sketch.
A crystal doorknob which will be installed to my bedroom door in my first New York apartment is currently used as a book weight.
Photos of Eric and I are not overwhelmingly placed all over the apartment but just next to our trinkets and books.

Girl Time
I always cherish the moments I have with my girls, especially since the times I get to see them is a long and far between. I finally got to see them during Eva's birthday lunch at our favorite sushi spot Akasaka!! Among our adventurous sushi rolls we did the usual gab that I'm certain annoyed everyone around us - great movies, stupid boys, embarrassing moments, shopping and Ryan Gossling!!!! I can't wait to see them again soon :)
What I'm wearing: Club Monaco "Loren" top, Club Monaco "Lina" pants, Aldo sandals, Alexander Wang "Millie" bag, Club Monaco sunglasses, Guess men's watch, DIY bracelets

The first step to change
I'm typically the one in the group to be extremely organized, and when I say "extremely" I don't mean "very". I mean I take all extreme measures to organize my life!
I hit a slump for a few months where I would only place important info into my phone but then my shitty iPhone started to crash every now and then (thanks Apple for your defective chips). After a while I stopped making note of anything important - which was totally not me.
After having lunch with my friend Ovey, which was full of positive energy it pepped me into a mood where I wanted to change. I didn't know WHAT I wanted to change all I knew is it had to be done. I stopped at Chapters and knew the first thing I need to buy - a planner.
I purchased one of their new editions Moleskin planners in the large size and a few task titled sticky notes and I felt set.
Writing ideas and events down seems more productive than typing it into a phone, don't you agree? Now that I've taken the first step to "change", I'm still waiting on what my next step is.... I'll keep you posted.
1. Weekly Soft Cover Planner - 18 month Large - Black $25
2. Set of 3 Sticky Pads - Tasks $8
3. Post-It Assorted Ultra Notes $5

I vote to evict...
This rant will be short. I just finished watching Big Brother you wouldn't even fathom the hatred I have for Rachel and Brendan... THEY EVICTED CASSIE!!!! Cassie, we loved you and will gladly tear Rachel and Brendan a new one. This show owns me 3 days a week.
Just saying.
Just saying.

The Cleanse
ELLE Magazine (US) has been the one magazine that I've purchased on a manditory monthly basis, I wont even subscribe to it because I refuse to have that stupid address sticker hovering over the cover corner. I like to keep my favorite magazines in a very neat and organized fashion. Over the years I've been collecting but rarely going back to the issues and finally realized that I do not NEED to keep them, i just WANTED them.
I am finally recycling all the past issues and will only keep the current season's issues. I AM CLEANSED!!!
You can see my own issue of ELLE Magazine UAE that I created for a school project a few years ago, HERE.

Welcome to LAS VEGAS
Is it here yet?! Its the 7th! Yes! Tomorow its here! I LEAVE FOR VEGAS! I'm extremely excited and cannot wait for a weekend with the girls in 42 degree weather sippin on margaritas and getting daaaarrkk.
Im all set, I've got my packing checklist, luggage from my parents (thanks mom!), my raybans that I lost for about a year, new party outfits and 2 new M.A.C. lipsticks!
During a shopping trip to H&M yesterday I scored a great printed sheer jacket that looks totally vintage, it'll make the perfect last edition to my "plane outfit" (LOL!)And a pair of high-wasited black shorts, both look like silk but are really polyester. ***Speaking of, isn't it hilarious that all of us girls have "plane outfits"??! We still gotta look cute even if we're thousands of feet in the air, am I right!? I've never been one to wear sweats and a tee, what if I run into Ryan Gosling at the terminal??? So. not. cute.***

I digress... my plane leaves tomorrow afternoon from bellingham and I'll be back posting on Tuesday. I'll have great times and a drink for all of you lovelies!! But remember.... what happens in Vegas.....ends up on my blog!
xoxo

48 days.
48 days left until I'm basking in the desert sun sippin on vodka strawberry lemonade slushies and getting ready to party it up VIP style! In another mad dash to H&M before work yesterday I landed 2 more dresses and a monokini! I must say I'm very proud of my monokini purchase considering I have cuts and bruises all over me from trying on a size too small the other day and now landing my size, LAST ONE, hiddin in a pile of nothings in the fitting room area.
But I digres... my updated checklist.
Vegas Shopping List
• Printed romper (that doesn’t make my ass hang out of the bottom)
• Black basic maxi dress CHECK!
• Printed shorts
• 1 AMAZING party dress CHECK!
• Cut out monokini (for daily pool parties...Rehab!)CHECK!!
• 2 Bikinis (preferably strapless and neutrals or a print)
• Dark brown wedges
• Strappy sandals (that won’t cut my feet to shreds)
• Raybans (I can’t believe I lost mine!!)
• Nicole OPI "Twist of Fate" Nail Lacquer !)CHECK!!

Happy Birthday
Today is my birthday. It's also day 2 of daily horoscope checks and this is what we got.
"If a few unpleasant developments end up rocking the boat today, don't worry. You ought to be able to get things back on track before long. If you're just willing to lend a helping hand to other people today, then others ought to be more than willing to return the favor and help you out when you need it.
Try to take care of whatever work or other responsibilities seem to be coming your way today. You should also try to clear up any personal issues that have been bothering you lately. And it ought to be a great time to get to work on any sort of creative or artistic projects. Mantra: Sensitivity"
I must say, I'm not too pleased with my horoscope with it's tone of overloading responsibilities. However, Im going to pay attention to the creativity aspect of it, before reading it I woke up and took down all the paintings in our apartment. Time to start a new.

Mantra: Sensitivity
As many know, I am not a religious individual...However, I am extremely spiritual and believe that what I put out into this world - I will receive in return. For many years I've followed my horoscopes daily and lived my life according to, I know...crazy right? After being super busy at work I fell short on my daily check-ups. Well..I'm back to checking them! Here is todays:
"There should be plenty for you to have to take care of on the home front today. And if you're not all that eager to do your part, then a few conflicts are bound to be popping up at some point. No matter how much you'll have to deal with, you just better be prepared to handle all the duties and obligations that are coming your way right now.
Just realize that taking care of all your responsibilities could lead to greater rewards for you later on down the line. Things really ought to start looking up for you on the romantic front tonight, so don't be afraid to let a loved one know how you really feel. Mantra: Sensitivity."
After doing a bit of clean-up around the house - while being attatcked with a minor flu AND thinking about a few conflicts at work I stopped to read my horoscope and wouldnt ya know it! On the mark again! I cant wait for tomorrows...

1 sip 2 sip
A little icy - a little fruity. Agreed. Nothing is more refreshing than a bevy that can satisfy both of your thirst quenchers. It reminds me of what I found refreshing on the runways for Spring 2011. Chloe did it effortlessly with light weight fabrics that flow and structured pieces that give shape and make you feel strong. Relax and take in the quenchers.
