Jewelry Must Haves

During a late night finger stroll through the Etsy jewelry categories I found myself struck with delight at all the lovely pieces I found that I haven't seen in any stores here in Vancouver. Etsy is so great for items like these, if you haven't searched for accessories and jewelery on it you must do it soon! Here are a few items that I have on my radar and will most likely be purchasing soon - and ones you can add to your lists or shopping carts!

Lucky Seven Necklace by Mossie & Bee - Designer Clare has been so kind that she is giving all of you a 10% off discount on her entire shop until June 2! Type is 10PERCENT during checkout to receive your discount.

Shopping Finds - Items that pop!

The past week has brought on some great shopping finds and I couldn't be happier with them! Eric and I stumbled upon a garage sale on Sunday morning and I was shocked to see that they had ONE nightstand which was the matching partner to the set I own and the last piece I needed - and yes, $7!!! Poifect :)

Here are a few outfit & beauty additions I've added to the collection!

H&M Denim Vest - I wore this with 2 outfits on back to back days, it's very versatile. I wore it as seen in the outfit photo above with a floral sun dress and the night prior out for drinks with black denim, a grey silk tank and the fuchsia pumps.

Aldo Pumps - LOVE LOVE LOVE! My first pair of pink pumps and they're crazy comfy. Aldo is having 25% off sale items so these beauties were a great deal.

H&M Black ball cap - I always lust over the outfits paired with the ball cap on 5 Inch And Up and thought it was time to sport these outfits myself.

I stopped by the Portobello West Market on Sunday afternoon and was so happy I did! I caught up with the lovely ladies from Clutch Jewels and Keltie Leanne Designs and discovered Foe & Dear.
A jewelry line made by Katherine Huie with a mix of vintage and new. I was stopped in my tracks when I saw this skull necklace and possessed it as my own. I look forward to my next Foe & Dear purchase!

I'm very picky with chain bracelets and have been on the search for a basic thick chain to pair with smaller ones, a gold watch or a few bangles. Lindsey from LinzGutz was so nice to gift me one and I can't wait to wear it everywhere, all the time!

Tara (Eric's sister) graced me with a belated birthday present from the wondrous counters of Chanel! I've never tried Chanel nail polish before but something tells me I'll be hooked. I'm super curious about their cream based eyeshadow - I will definitely be reporting back!

Remembering The Details

This is one of the few attempts I make to mix patterns. As soon as I saw the ASOS over sized retro sunnies I knew this was going to be an interesting outfit. That's typically how it goes, one item will set off the entire look I put together. This also goes in real life.
I feel that the sunglasses tortoise print goes well with the Topshop joggers simply because the toned down hues. Yes, the prints are LOUD. However the colors are not. They are separated and neutralized with the cream scalloped jacket (always remember the details) and the satin grey cami (always remember the details).

Bring out the black in the pants with the bag, pumps and accessory and it all ties together! Did you also notice the gold tones tied together with the watch and sunglasses? DETAILS DETAILS DETAILS!

How would you pair these prints?

Color Of The Week: Sodalite Blue

This week's featured color from the Pantone Spring Color Trend Report 2012 is "Sodalite Blue" designed by Barbara Tfank.

The inspiration behind this hue: "The early films of Elizabeth Taylor who has always been an enormous inspiration to me — I wanted to offer a tribute to her".

Anytime I see a deep blue such as this shade I think of one word - Regal. Much like the inspiration behind this color of Elizabeth Taylor I too find it to be chic, classy and bold. Although it is a bold color it can easily be substituted for a neutral. Instead of khaki or black pants sub it for this deep blue with a color top or black and white.

If your outfit of the day is simple and needs a splash however you don't feel like having that vibrant hue, this shade is perfect for a ribbon in the hair, nail color or the color in your shoes!

Lastly, a great aspect of this color is that it works all year during all seasons!

Shopping Finds - Home Decor & A New Basic

In early April I purchased a liquor tray from Lofty Living in New Westminster - it was posted in the Shopping Finds post at the time. I've decided to not display liquor bottles on it but leave it with crystals and drink accessories! The paper straws are from Etsy and all of the crystal is from my parents old collection.

As seen in yesterday's post, Eric and I hit up a few garage sales over the weekend and I got some great items! Click HERE to see the furniture and lamps I got for only $15! Eric managed to get a 1960s piece of furniture himself for only $10!

Lately I've been collecting small glass tea light holders. They're so beautiful and detailed and add a special touch to my place. They can also be used for many others things such as jewelry pots, and holders for office supplies. At the same garage sale I nabbed this one for only $0.80!

The first garage sale we got to had half a garage full of candles from the Woodward's department store and apparently when we got there at 11am more than half of them were already sold! I got 2 sets of 6 white candle sticks for $0.10 each - a deal unheard of these days.

Crossing off an item on my 5 Items post I got a pair of skinny white trousers from Zara. They hit right below the ankle bone to not allow too much bunching at the bottom. They create a longer leg and will be perfect for this season. I just have to be careful, I'm notorious for ruining white items before I head out the door!

Home Decor Project Phase 1: The Inspiration

Last Saturday was a lovely day in Vancouver - it was our last day of sun and shine before the long weekend brought us rainy days and clouds. Eric and I spent it doing what we like to do during the Spring / Summer seasons - garage sale hopping! After a yummy home made breakfast we perused Cragislist for local Vancouver garage sales and hit up as many as we could!

On our last stop we hit the jackpot! They needed to get rid of everything and price wasn't an issue. I found these 2 beautiful lamps (minus the colors) for only $5 for the set and the table was $10! This will be a great project to occupy myself with in the next week.

Below is inspiration for what I plan to redesign them as. I'm thinking white lamp shades, gold becomes white, orange and tan becomes mint. The table will either be completely white or two tone! Stay tuned in the next 2 weeks for the final result. If you have any suggestions I would love to hear what they are!

5 Items

Happy Monday!

A new segment to the blog has been added titled "5 Items". Each week I will post the 5 items that I am currently coveting that create a complete outfit! I hope you enjoy my first one - I've checked one item off the list and am on the hunt for the other 4!

Also, June 1st is a big day for The-Unprecedented! There are 2 surprises that I can't wait to show you and one you will definitely want to take a part in!

Zara Ankle Strap Sandals - Perfect for pairing with skinny pants of any kind; denim, trousers & cropped. The metallic shine can be that detail I need in my outfit without going overboard!

Céline Goyard Tote - I tend to take my entire life with me when I leave the house so it's obvious that I would use a large bag! In fact, I don't even own a tote - this one would be perfect!
Zara Slim Fit Denim - I just recently purchased these and as someone who hasn't owned a pair of white pants before (even though I recommend it to everyone!) it has opened a whole array of outfits for myself especially for the Spring/ Summer season. They have great stretch and hit just below my ankle bone to create a sleek look!
J. Crew Trace Link Bracelet - I love all gold accessories and am on the hunt for the perfect gold chain link bracelet! I feel in love with this one and feel like it would be perfect on its own or stacked with single thin chains.

Club Monaco Sunny Tee - Nothing is more perfect than a soft loose fitting basic tee. It doesn't have to be boring and worn with something over top but can be jazzed up with a statement necklace and even worn out to dinner!

In The Nude

As you know I've been a big fan of color this year and have introduced it into my wardrobe over and over again. One item that I tend to always pair the color with is a nude palette. I find that neutrals, tans and nudes allow the colors to pop and don't make an overwhelming look altogether. You can also add more than 1 color to an outfit without going overboard. Take the below look for example. With a yellow being a loud and prominent color you can add a pink or red with your lipstick or nail polish!

How do you pair your colors in your outfits? Let me know in the comment section!

Shopping Finds - Warm Weather Essentials

I am LOVING the weather we are having in Vancouver right now. It has been 20-28 every day and bright and sunny. This is putting me in a major summer outfit mood and I've forgotten what pants are for 2 weeks now!

While in Vegas I really didn't shop. I only purchased 2 items and I'm actually quite proud of myself! In fact, with all of the sunny days I have trying my hardest to simply soak up the rays and not waste too much time going to shops. Although my birthday did make up for that!

Lyndsey purchased this ah-mazing lime green blouse from one of my favorite Vancouver shops - Muse Social Fashion House. It's soooo nice to wear with the cropped front and longer back. Can't wait to wear it more often!

I had the pleasure of visiting a wonderful boutique in Yaletown Vancouver the other day - Jennyfleur Loves! With a ton of designer goodies and amazing unique jewelery finds I gravitated straight towards this spike bracelet and can't take it off!

I tend to not spend a lot of money on my summer sandals because of the amount of wear. You're probably thinking "but if you wear them everyday wouldn't you want to spend more on them and get good quality sandals??" Aldo does a great job with their summer sandal selection and for $35 you really can't go wrong. I needed one that was simple, chic, comfy and easy to wear with many outfits. These Kahler pair in white with the gold pendant is perfect!

I've had my eye on this H&M bikini since I first saw it online at the start of the season. With the removable straps it can be a super cute strapless with no tan lines!

Once again I've purchased the most delicious cupcakes from Elyshia Samy of DeLysh Design. You may remember the cupcakes she made me once before seen HERE as well as the black and gold GLAM bracelet I gave away last month! I honestly believe that shes Vancouver's best kept cupcake secret! You can order some cakes of your own at delyshsc@hotmail.com

I hope your weeks are full of sunshine as well and you're getting into the Spring spirit! Have you purchased anything great from the places I mentioned above?? Let me know in the comment section!

Oh, and FYI! All 50 of the Social Experiment Ring promo codes have been given away! Have you used yours yet???

Pantone Color Of The Week: Cabaret

This week's featured color from the Pantone Spring Color Trend Report 2012 is "Cabaret" designed by Peter Som.

The inspiration behind this hue: "Roses in their myriad of colors".

I find it quite funny that I love dark and edgy items and shirts with skull prints on them but when I see a hue of pink - watch out! I'm all over it! I wasn't always this way and despised pink and associated it with everything Paris Hilton but these days I associate it with everything Lanvin and Versace. Pinks are a pretty easy color to get away with for almost any occasion and season. It can elevate an outfit from bland to girly. I find a surprising kick in my step when I wear pink - it makes me feel ultra feminine! I say this spring and summer have some fun with this shade and let your outfits pop!

Trend: Statement Necklaces

After seeing THIS instagramed photo by one of our cherished local boutiques - Barefoot Contessa, I was overjoyed and the statement necklace trend! Sometimes when I think of statement necklaces I think "designer", "expensive", "over-the-top" - but that doesn't need to be the case! I've put my favorite 6 statement necklaces above all from stores that are accessible and affordable for everyone! Some are crazier (3) than others but are all easy to wear!

I myself have quite a few statement necklaces and can't even leave the house without one sometimes! Have you jumped on the statement necklace trend?

Shopping Finds - Vegas and another

Vegas in T- 1 day, 17 hours, 23 minutes and 49 seconds...48 sec...47 sec...
Excitement Level: I'm seeing spots!

Ooohhh it's almost time! Time to soak up the sun! I checked the weather report for this weekend and it's going to be 32, 29 and 29! It'll feel just like our Vancouver summers except as if I was in an oven :).

I've been trickling in and out of shops picking up some last minute items and came across some great pieces - not necessarily on the list - but on the cheap!

On a typical Vegas adventure I would change up my nail polish depending on the outfit. Yes, day AND night! Some like to call that nuts. I call it coordinated. I picked up these 2 great shades from Revlon from my local drug store 2 for $8 and they'll be perfect for the nights out at the clubs. Gold with my lime green dress and pink with my black. Coordinated.

Old Navy is a hidden gem, I'm serious! They have a ton of items that you would have on your seasons trend list and they're all affordable. I don't like to dress up while I'm by the pool because there's nothing more uncomfortable than sweating and having your silk blouses stick to your body. I snagged this great basic tank for only $12 - I'm a fan of the cut and material. It's basic and comfy but still has the sexy factor.

ANOTHER tank from Old Navy - this time on sale for $7! It's super cute on and has great texture to it. It's the type of tank you can wear to the grocery store with sandals and shorts and paired with a skirt and heels it's excellent for a night out!

My good friend Nazanin is a seller for Stella & Dot and she's been so lovely to let me borrow this necklace that I'm absolutely lusting after! I know just the outfit to wear it with in Vegas. There's no guarantee that she'll get it back though...sorry Naz!

A few weeks ago I popped into our local art and fashion market "Make It" to pick up some newly designed LOVE + MARK'D cards by Olivia Lovenmark of Style Struck. I'm obsessing over her new collection and can't wait to hand them out!

PS. Lyndsey if you're reading this - notice my arms? Lookin pretty sexified arent they? That's right!

Don't forget that there is still the #BFFlove promotion happening for I See Noise! Buy one print at regular price and get the other (of equal value - not including the $50 Quotes) for 50%. AAAAnd the first 50 people to order I See Noise prints in May get 20% off Social Experiment Rings! There are 35 more spots and it's only May 2nd!! To get the discount shoot me an email :)

White Noise

White is a tricky shade to wear - well at least for me it is. It's one shade I love to have in my wardrobe but for reasons other than the fact that I get food on it 5 minutes after wear - it makes it hard to wear. Tops are fine, it's the bottoms that get me in the grind! My thighs for one are not the smallest and I find that the white pants accentuate it. However, if I add height to my outfit (heels) it creates a longer leg and evens it out.

This outfit is perfect for a sunny day (far from food and colored liquids) and can add a spring in your step simply because of the light hues and feminine touches! Like I said above, adding the heels creates length - with an open toe like this one it makes your legs even longer!

This is one collection for I See Noise that I have been working on for a little bit now. Instead of the usual fashion quotes I wanted to make sure they had deeper meanings but were still fabulous to have around the house.

All quote prints are 11"x17" and come in 24K gold and Sterling silver.

The collection consists of the following 5 quotes:

"When the little black dress is right, there is nothing else to wear"- Wallis Simpson
"Elegance is the only beauty that never fades" - Audrey Hepburn
"One is never over-dressed or underdressed with the little black dress" - Karl Lagerfeld
"One should either be a work of art, or wear a work of art" - Oscar Wilde
"Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak" - Rachel Zoe

Well...that's it! Told you it was exciting! So basically if you order in the first week of May you get 50% off your second print AND the promo for Social Experiement ... I'm feeling quite generous these days. Especially since all of you have been so supportive of the prints and my blog!
