Page One: A Year Inside The New York Times

Last week I enjoyed the company of my friend Kaitey as we had lunch at The Lamplighter and then headed to Tinsletown to see "Page One: A Year Inside The New York Times". I will admit, I do not read the newspaper as often as I should but I do make the effort (it's more accessible on my phone) and I am not well aware of the decline of the newspaper industry. "Page One" creates a clear picture in your mind of this decline and shows the process in which they go through to stay afloat of this world saturated with online news updates.

This film allows you to take a too close for comfort look into what it takes to create headlines while working in a competitive and stressful environment.

Who doesn't enjoy a good blouse?

In my opinion, blouses are the best way to look effortlessly chic - hands down my favorite type of top. If you don't own one in your closet I suggest to place your computer aside right now, grab your charge card and head for the store! You'll thank me, they're easy to dress up and dress down and look great tucked in with a belt or just let loose. TRY IT!

color me mad

I should probably just start wearing these disgusting green rings around my fingers cause don't they look amazing?! Ugh... how gross right? I hate when my costume jewelry leaves green marks on my body, and it doesn't even matter what the price I pay for them they all do it.

I learned that this is due to the amount of copper in the piece that reacts with your skin. Lame.

What can we do about this?

1. Apply clear nail polish to the inside of the ring. A coating of the nail lacquer will prevent the ring's metal alloys from coming in contact with your skin. This is probably one of the most effective solutions and the easiest. If the clear polish wears off, you can always add another layer. It will be completely invisible and will work like magic.

2. Place a layer of underarm deodorant around your finger where the ring lies. Perspiration can cause a ring that is not of very high quality to turn your finger green. The sweat mixes with the metal alloys and leaves behind a nasty green or black ring, and the deodorant will help prevent perspiration buildup in that area. You can do this each time you wear the ring.

3. Have your ring electroplated. Silver plating or the application of an imitation rhodium coating will prevent skin exposure to the base metal of the ring. A jeweler can add this extra layer of protection, and it is a solution that can be well worth the money to anyone who has a beloved ring that causes her finger to turn green.

4. Remove your rings whenever you know you will be coming into contact with water. Swimming, washing your hands and doing dishes can all cause the skin on your finger to turn green underneath your ring. Removing your rings and drying your hands thoroughly after coming into contact with water will prevent this from happening.

5. Limit acid in your diet. A highly acidic diet can cause your skin to react with the alloys in some metals. Fruits and vegetables such as tomatoes in high concentration can sometimes cause this reaction

GREAT TIP: Toothpaste is very effective in removing the green stain from your finger

Snipits of my life: Part 4- Beauty

MY MAKEUP | I have never been a big shopper for makeup and only purchase it if necessary, unless something were to catch my eye but that rarely happens anymore. Over the years I've come to find out which products work best for me and which to stay away from so I only use a few brands.

Foundations | I use COVER FX Natural FX water based liquid foundation, I never get the feeling that I have makeup on my skin $37.00.

Bronzers |
To add a bit of color to my skin I use COVER FX Bronze FX sunkissed bronzing powder, a little bit of this powder on your brush goes a long way $28.00.

Lips | Always always always use a lip balm 3 times a day minumum but for some sheen I use Chanel Gloss #98 (thanks nina!!)

Blushes |
About a month ago I was introduced to Mary Kay makeup and will never use another blush again! One swoop of the brush and my cheeks are rosey for a full day, I use "Strawberry Cream 1C10"

Eyeshadow | I use many brands of shadows, however Covergirl and Urban Decay have been my curren favorites.

Eyeliners & Mascara | Everyone can agree with me on this one, Maybelline Great Lash in Blackest Black is THE BEST MASCARA EVER. Enough said. As for my eyeliner I'm currently using Mary Kay Black self sharpening pen.

MY NAILS |
I am so obsessed with nail polish that I have to put myself on a monthly allowance of only 1 PER MONTH.

Brands that I am currently wearing - Joe Fresh, Sally Hansen, Nicole by OPI, LA Girl, LA Colors, Essie, Motives, Billy and Wet n Wild. I like to experiment with all brands of nail polish to see which ones I like the best.

*** DIY nail polish shelf - total cost $10. The amount of wood I purchased for $5 was enough to create 2 racks. $5 for white spray paint.

I vote to evict...

This rant will be short. I just finished watching Big Brother you wouldn't even fathom the hatred I have for Rachel and Brendan... THEY EVICTED CASSIE!!!! Cassie, we loved you and will gladly tear Rachel and Brendan a new one. This show owns me 3 days a week.

Just saying.

polyvore? POLYMORE!!!

Although my account states that I created it 4 years ago, this is the first time I've ever used Polyvore and I'm definetly hooked.

The Cleanse

ELLE Magazine (US) has been the one magazine that I've purchased on a manditory monthly basis, I wont even subscribe to it because I refuse to have that stupid address sticker hovering over the cover corner. I like to keep my favorite magazines in a very neat and organized fashion. Over the years I've been collecting but rarely going back to the issues and finally realized that I do not NEED to keep them, i just WANTED them.

I am finally recycling all the past issues and will only keep the current season's issues. I AM CLEANSED!!!

You can see my own issue of ELLE Magazine UAE that I created for a school project a few years ago, HERE.

3 fully grown women in Las Vegas

I'm back. I'm broke. I'm permanently hungover. I had such a blast in Vegas with my girls and every trip just gets better and better. Like most Vegas trips I come back with a load of photos, a great tan, and tons of shopping but this trip the best memory I came back with was a bucket load of hilarious quotes! I'd share them with all of you but you just wouldn't understand. (Example: "My stomach is NOT DTF!") Get it? Didn't think so.

So, like I said in the previous post. What happens in Vegas, ends up on my blog! Here are some photos that sum up my trip.

Each night we made sure that WE COULD NOT START OFF OUR NIGHT until we took individual posed photos, which made for a great post. I felt more dressed down than my other trips to Vegas but I'm happy with the end result :)

Welcome to LAS VEGAS

Is it here yet?! Its the 7th! Yes! Tomorow its here! I LEAVE FOR VEGAS! I'm extremely excited and cannot wait for a weekend with the girls in 42 degree weather sippin on margaritas and getting daaaarrkk.

Im all set, I've got my packing checklist, luggage from my parents (thanks mom!), my raybans that I lost for about a year, new party outfits and 2 new M.A.C. lipsticks!

During a shopping trip to H&M yesterday I scored a great printed sheer jacket that looks totally vintage, it'll make the perfect last edition to my "plane outfit" (LOL!)And a pair of high-wasited black shorts, both look like silk but are really polyester. ***Speaking of, isn't it hilarious that all of us girls have "plane outfits"??! We still gotta look cute even if we're thousands of feet in the air, am I right!? I've never been one to wear sweats and a tee, what if I run into Ryan Gosling at the terminal??? So. not. cute.***

I digress... my plane leaves tomorrow afternoon from bellingham and I'll be back posting on Tuesday. I'll have great times and a drink for all of you lovelies!! But remember.... what happens in Vegas.....ends up on my blog!

xoxo
