Shopping Finds - Home Decor & A New Basic

In early April I purchased a liquor tray from Lofty Living in New Westminster - it was posted in the Shopping Finds post at the time. I've decided to not display liquor bottles on it but leave it with crystals and drink accessories! The paper straws are from Etsy and all of the crystal is from my parents old collection.

As seen in yesterday's post, Eric and I hit up a few garage sales over the weekend and I got some great items! Click HERE to see the furniture and lamps I got for only $15! Eric managed to get a 1960s piece of furniture himself for only $10!

Lately I've been collecting small glass tea light holders. They're so beautiful and detailed and add a special touch to my place. They can also be used for many others things such as jewelry pots, and holders for office supplies. At the same garage sale I nabbed this one for only $0.80!

The first garage sale we got to had half a garage full of candles from the Woodward's department store and apparently when we got there at 11am more than half of them were already sold! I got 2 sets of 6 white candle sticks for $0.10 each - a deal unheard of these days.

Crossing off an item on my 5 Items post I got a pair of skinny white trousers from Zara. They hit right below the ankle bone to not allow too much bunching at the bottom. They create a longer leg and will be perfect for this season. I just have to be careful, I'm notorious for ruining white items before I head out the door!

Home Decor Project Phase 1: The Inspiration

Last Saturday was a lovely day in Vancouver - it was our last day of sun and shine before the long weekend brought us rainy days and clouds. Eric and I spent it doing what we like to do during the Spring / Summer seasons - garage sale hopping! After a yummy home made breakfast we perused Cragislist for local Vancouver garage sales and hit up as many as we could!

On our last stop we hit the jackpot! They needed to get rid of everything and price wasn't an issue. I found these 2 beautiful lamps (minus the colors) for only $5 for the set and the table was $10! This will be a great project to occupy myself with in the next week.

Below is inspiration for what I plan to redesign them as. I'm thinking white lamp shades, gold becomes white, orange and tan becomes mint. The table will either be completely white or two tone! Stay tuned in the next 2 weeks for the final result. If you have any suggestions I would love to hear what they are!

Shopping Finds - Home, Beauty and Clothing

Today's Shopping Finds post is JAM PACKED!! YEEUPP!! You know what that means right?... I'm broke! Not really.

Today is probably one of my favorites because it adds in a little bit of everything. I've got home decor, beauty, clothing and accessories to show you.

I'm sure you all know my love for Voluspa candles by now. They retail between $20-$40 and I grabbed these ones from Chapters for only $5.75 each!! They were on sale for 75% off.

During my trip to Lynn Steven in Gastown I fell in love with these Patch NYC candles! They're 100% soy and have a 20 hour burning time - perfect! 2 sizes available, this is the smaller one for $17.

I've been looking for a mirrored tray to fit all my perfumes (and room for more) but it's been a bit of a struggle. I purchased one from The Cross Decor and Design and loved it but unfortunately it wouldn't hold all of the bottles. This one works perfectly! Winners $16.99.

It's always nice to get organized for the day with pretty items - this to do list keeps me on track on for only $7.99 from Chapters. 

During a speedy trip to Ikea with my mom last week I made sure to hit up the "as is" section to see if there were any steals of a deal. There was! This large white coffee table (although basic, still functional) was only $30 because of some small scratch you can't even see. It works perfectly as a book shelf since I've moved my shelf into the office and have it packed with my supplies! To the women we had to fight off for this table - ya snooze ya loose!

Office Essentials

As I've mentioned before, I am renovating my home office! Just the other day, out of the blue I decided to paint it and give all the existing furniture a new look. You can see the paint color of the walls in the post below. I spent my day yesterday spray painting my workshop table and floating shelves white with a lacquer finish - I love them!

It's important for me to have a great space to work in considering when I'm home I spend the largest portion of my day in my office! It's comforting to be surrounded by beautiful and fun pieces and not the typical stuffy office feel.

It's a definite work in progress and I'm doing a little each day, below are a few items that I'll be adding to my office to make it feel a bit more special!

Shopping Finds - and a quick office change!

IT'S FRIDAY!! I hope everyone is doing something fabulous this weekend! Today is another edition of "Shopping Finds & Favorites", one of my favorite posts to do every week!!

If you follow me on Twitter and Instagram then you would know that I'm currently re-doing my office. I've taken the plunge on a whim and painted my office "Echo Lake" blue - a bit of a bluey-green. I first saw it as the logo color for The Glitter Guide and it always made me feel inspired. So...I painted it...I hated it (it was so obnoxious in this big space)..and now I love it! I'll be adding accents of white furniture with silver and gold accessories. Exciting!

During a stroll through Winners the other day I came across this beautiful photo frame in 3 different textures for only $7.99 and had to have one of them. It adds a bit of shine and sparkle when the light hits it and goes perfectly against the new wall color.

I also spotted a large gorgeous white porcelain vase - perfect to hold pink peonies flowers. It gives some life to the office and adds that touch of pretty. It was only $12.99!!



A favorite of mine for some time now has been re-designing my old furniture and accessories with a simple solution - spray paint. If you haven't tried it I highly recommend it. Spray paint comes in a huge array of colors / shades and also different textures / shines. I recently took an old white lamp and painted it gold (will show you soon), remade old photo frames into lovely gold fixtures and now will be turning my dingy work station table in a fab white lacquered table as well as my floating shelves!

It's cheap, simple and makes for the perfect quick fix! Have you spray -painted anything to make it new?

Shopping Finds - Boxing Day Home Decor

My first stop for Boxing Day was The Cross Decor & Design in Yaletown. I figured it was the best time to use my gift card that I had won from their photo contest at the beginning of December. I purchased a few items for my place and for my new washroom which is being built at the moment.

One item which stumped Tara and I was a lovely ceramic stool / side table that was at the front by the door. I passed it a few times but didn't think anything of it until right before I left. I knew it was a great addition to my place to add right beside my bookshelf. Here's the bonus....it was originally over $400 and I got it for $40! It has a major crack as if part of it had fell off and they glued it back together but you can't even see it because it's on one side that doesn't need to be shown. I was ecstatic!! I had to leave it there while I shopped and was told that more people wanted to purchase it. Finders, keepers!

I've mentioned before that Michaels always has great deals especially after a holiday and boy was I right! All of their Christmas decor is only 60% off! I landed this ornate candle holder for only $7 after discount.

Tiny Treasures

Today's post is about the smaller items in your space that make the biggest difference. I'm a big fan of little treasures that have no use but sparkle and shine in your home - they add a touch of positivity!

I wanna share with you my "Treasure Table". Throughout my entire space I have the little favorite items like crystal candle holders, silver and gold picture frames, glass vases etc. but one area of my place holds a family of treasures.


Over a year ago I located a lovely french style table from The Salvation Army originally in the color black. This beauty was only $20 and now looks much more costly, painted white and taken care of it adds a great look to my space.


On top it carries my finds from around Vancouver. A beautiful silver mirror with just enough detail, a statue of a lady which is reminiscent of a Valentino sketch (also originally in black and from Value Village), a photo of Eric and myself during one of our favorite times together, a silver skull to add that edge, a crystal doorknob, an oil lamp for a vintage flare and a geometric star for that modern touch, and to add one more touch of "pretty" 2 crystal candlestick holders with long white soy candlesticks.


I think it's important to keep a theme going, for me it was white, silver and crystal. It creates a sentimental and ornate area in my place and adds a touch of fancy :). Having a mirror creates a larger area through the reflection, it helps considering I don't think I'll be tearing down any walls anytime soon!

Priorities, Priorities

As you may have noticed I've been lacking on the post front. These past 2 weeks have been super hectic for me with the holidays, getting together with friends I haven't seen in a while and moving out of my apartment. Renovating my basement suite took me 4 days just to paint it white, I've been packing up my life since Thursday and had to drive from point A to point B 12 times in 3 days!! Now I have a basement suite that's full of furniture and packed up boxes that need a home.

The icing on this gigantic cake is that I get to decorate a whole new place!! I'm going for this whole white, clean, pop of color feel with darker furniture. I don't have a theme but a lot of ideas and I'm hoping they all work together. So far I've started on putting my shoes away - check out THIS photo! I have 2 of those cabinets and they've already been filled...time for less shoes?

One thing that's been racking my mind is that I haven't been able to settle my nail polish addiction because they're PACKED AWAY IN A BOX AND I DON'T KNOW WHICH ONE!!! My nails look shitty. So, instead of "window" shopping I'm going to have you all join me in "screen" shopping for some holiday party polishes. Enjoy this long list of Deborah Lippmann colors!!

Vancouver Home & Design Show

I'm so happy that I went to the show because not only was it a great way to spend the afternoon but I gained so many inspirational ideas for my home and even DIY projects for accessories. Unfortunately I didn't get to see any of the celebrity speakers such as Jillian Harris but within the 2 hours of walking through the venue I found many ideas and items that inspired me just as well.






I've always been a sucker for the Nail Jazz stand and finally purchased a kit of 8 colors. We definetly had fun with it during our slumber party the other day.

Only young once

On Friday Eric and I enjoyed an afternoon at the Vancouver Home and Design show at the Vancouver convention center. Eric was lured into each booth that had the smell of garlic or meat and myself on the other hand went straight into any area that had tons of sparkle and furry pillows! It was a great way to gather 2 hours of inpsiration from one area , and ofcourse I snapped some photos that I'll be sharing with you soon!

This weekend was a weekend with the girls - my cousins that is. Ages 15, 17, 18, 24 and 28 all gathered together for a slumber party filled with trashy tv, trashy food and tons of toxic nail polish. I always love getting together with them - they make me young again! LOL!

I have to say, not working right now is definetly allowing me to catch up on everything that I missed out on. Having a fulltime job in retail was my life - and that's not life. I'm able to spend time with friends and family, go to design shows of many kinds, gallery shows, on the spur lunches and dinners and just about anything I want to do.

I'm only young once and have all the time in the world to work. THIS time, is for me.

Vintage Cola straw holder

What a great find! While on my walk to Moody Beads a few hours with Eric we made a quick stop at the Salvation Army and look what we found - a vintage Coca Cola straw holder for only $4!! It definetly completed the experience of making milkshakes at home :).
